About: The telegraph equation u_tt + 2γu_t = c²u_xx combines wave propagation (c²u_xx) with dissipation (2γu_t). It was derived by Heaviside for electrical transmission lines. With γ=0 it reduces to the pure wave equation; with γ large the diffusion term dominates. Purple shows the damped telegraph solution, cyan shows the undamped reference wave for comparison.
