Suprathreshold Stochastic Resonance — Array Detection

An array of N threshold-crossing detectors processes a sub-threshold signal in independent noise. By summing binary outputs, noise assists detection — SNR is maximized at an optimal noise amplitude, even when the signal exceeds no individual threshold.

Parameters

Detector i: yᵢ = H(s(t)+ξᵢ(t)-θ) Output: Y = (1/N)Σyᵢ SNR = |Ŷ(f₀)|² / P_noise Optimal σ* ≈ (θ-A)/√(2ln N) SSR: SNR increases with N even for A<θ
