Stochastic Resonance

Noise can enhance weak signal detection — SNR peaks at optimal noise amplitude

Subthreshold — hard to detect alone
Adjust to find the SNR peak
How it works:
A weak periodic signal (below threshold) mixed with Gaussian noise occasionally crosses the threshold. At optimal noise, crossings synchronise with the signal — SNR peaks. Too little noise: no crossings. Too much: random crossings drown the signal.
