Kepler's third law states T² ∝ a³, so planets farther from the Sun orbit far more slowly — Neptune takes 165 Earth years per orbit. Orbital resonances (e.g., Jupiter's gravitational influence) sculpt the asteroid belt and create Kirkwood gaps.
