Self-Organized Criticality — Forest Fire

The Drossel–Schwabl forest-fire model spontaneously evolves to a critical state with power-law avalanche distributions. Trees grow at rate p, lightning strikes at rate f ≪ p, and fires spread to all 4-connected burning neighbors.
