Quantum S-Matrix — 1D Scattering

A quantum particle scatters off a 1D potential. The S-matrix encodes transmission (T) and reflection (R) amplitudes, with |T|² + |R|² = 1 (unitarity). Resonances occur when the particle temporarily binds — transmission peaks sharply to 1. The transfer matrix method handles arbitrary barrier shapes exactly. Real and imaginary parts of the wavefunction show the standing wave pattern in the barrier region.
