Replica Trick — Random Field Ising Disorder

The replica trick [ln Z]_dis = lim_{n→0} ([Z^n]_dis − 1)/n converts quenched disorder averaging to an annealed problem with n coupled replicas. In the random-field Ising model, the disorder variance Δ² generates an effective inter-replica coupling. The Edwards-Anderson order parameter q_EA = [⟨σ⟩²]_dis measures spin-glass order — nonzero q_EA indicates replica symmetry breaking and a rugged free-energy landscape with exponentially many valleys.
