Reaction-Telegraph Equation

The telegraph equation τu_tt + u_t = D·u_xx + f(u) propagates disturbances at finite speed c=√(D/τ) — unlike the heat equation (infinite speed). Add a logistic reaction term f(u)=ru(1−u) for a reaction-telegraph wave. The wave front has a sharp leading edge when τ>0.

τ·∂²u/∂t² + ∂u/∂t = D·∂²u/∂x² + r·u·(1−u)
Relaxation τ 0.2
Diffusion D 0.5
Growth r 1.0
