Metabolic flux balance analysis on a glycolysis-inspired network
Flux Balance Analysis (FBA) finds the steady-state flux distribution v satisfying S·v = 0 (stoichiometric matrix times flux = zero), where metabolite concentrations are constant. In glycolysis, phosphofructokinase (PFK) is the key regulatory step; pyruvate kinase (PK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) compete for pyruvate. ATP yield = 2 mol/mol glucose via substrate-level phosphorylation.
