The XXZ spin chain H = ∑[SₓSₓ′ + S⸦S⸦′ + ΔS𝑧S𝑧′] - h∑S𝑧 is simulated using classical Heisenberg spins evolved via Metropolis Monte Carlo. The anisotropy Δ controls the transition from easy-plane (Δ<1, XY phase) to Ising-like (Δ>1) ordering. Spins are shown on a 1D chain with color encoding the z-component, and the spin-spin correlation function C(r) is plotted below.
