Coulomb blockade: tunneling through a quantum dot is suppressed unless the gate voltage aligns a charge state degeneracy. Addition energy = Ec + Δ (with level spacing Δ from quantum confinement). Diamond edges follow slopes ±Cg/(C+Cg) and ∓Cg/C.
