About

HP model (Lau-Dill 1989): proteins as H (hydrophobic, gold) and P (polar, blue) residues on a 2D square lattice. Energy = −1 per non-bonded H-H contact. Folding problem is NP-complete even in this simplified model. Monte Carlo with Metropolis criterion explores conformational space. At low T, hydrophobic core forms.
