Protein Aggregation — Nucleated Polymerization (Oosawa Model)

The Oosawa model describes nucleated polymerization: monomers must form a critical nucleus of size n* before rapid fiber elongation can occur, producing a characteristic lag phase. Below critical concentration c*, no polymerization; above c*, fibers grow consuming monomers until equilibrium. Relevant to amyloid, actin, and tubulin assembly.
