The Cellular Potts Model simulates how cells with different cadherin expression levels spontaneously sort into separate domains. Cells of the same type (same cadherin level) preferentially adhere — minimizing interfacial energy drives the sorting, recapitulating Steinberg's differential adhesion hypothesis.
