Exciton-Polariton Condensate

Strong light-matter coupling in semiconductor microcavities — Rabi splitting, polariton dispersion, BEC-like condensation

Coupling Parameters

H = E_c(k)a†a + E_x b†b
+ ℏΩ_R/2 (a†b + b†a)
E_{UP/LP}(k) = ½(E_c+E_x ± √(ℏΩ_R)²+δ²)
Exciton-polaritons are hybrid quasiparticles formed by strong coupling between cavity photons and quantum-well excitons. Their dispersion shows anticrossing (Rabi splitting). Above threshold, they condense into the k≈0 LP minimum (bosonic condensation).
