PIN-mediated canalization (Mitchison 1981, Rolland-Lheureux 2010): auxin activates PIN transporter production on cell faces with high flux. High-flux paths become highways (canals), creating a positive feedback loop: flux → PIN upregulation → more flux → vein formation. Self-organizing vascular patterns emerge without a blueprint.
