The Brusselator is a two-species chemical oscillator. When the diffusion ratio Du/Dv is small and B exceeds (1+A)², a Turing instability amplifies spatial perturbations into stationary patterns. The homogeneous steady state (A, B/A) destabilizes into spots or stripes.
