Duffing Oscillator: Nonlinear Resonance

ẍ + δẋ + αx + βx³ = γcos(ωt). The cubic nonlinearity tilts the resonance curve, causing bistability and jump phenomena: as drive frequency sweeps up, amplitude jumps discontinuously. The Duffing oscillator is the archetype of nonlinear resonance and can exhibit chaos.
