Multifractals have a spectrum of local Hölder exponents α. The singularity spectrum f(α) gives the fractal dimension of the set where the measure scales as ε^α. Turbulence, finance, and strange attractors all exhibit multifractal scaling — a single fractal dimension is insufficient to characterize them.
