Majorana Fermions in the Kitaev Chain

The 1D Kitaev chain hosts Majorana zero modes at its ends when in the topological phase (|μ| < 2|t|). Each physical fermion splits into two Majorana modes: γ = c + c†, bound at opposite ends of the wire.
