Preisach Model — Magnetic Hysteresis

The Preisach model represents a ferromagnet as a distribution of bistable "hysterons" — elementary dipoles that flip between ±1 at different switching fields (α, β). The macroscopic magnetization is the weighted sum over all hysterons. This explains the characteristic S-shaped hysteresis loop and the memory effects of magnetic materials used in hard drives and transformers.
