Magnetic Skyrmion
Topological soliton in chiral magnets
Topological charge Q = −1
A skyrmion is a topologically protected spin texture characterized by a wrapping of the unit sphere. The topological charge Q = (n·p)/2 counts how many times the spin field wraps S². Arrow color encodes Sz component (red=up, blue=down). The helicity λ rotates the in-plane spin pattern. Skyrmions cannot be continuously deformed into a ferromagnet — their topology is conserved.
