Magnetic Skyrmion — Topological Charge

A magnetic skyrmion is a topologically protected spin texture with integer winding number Q = ±1. The spin field wraps the sphere once — it cannot be smoothly unwound. Under applied current, skyrmions drift perpendicular to the force (skyrmion Hall effect) due to the topological Magnus term.
