Lévy Stable Distributions

Stable distributions are attractors for sums of i.i.d. variables. Characteristic function: φ(t) = exp(iμt − |ct|^α exp(iβπ·sgn(t)/2)). When α < 2, the distribution has heavy power-law tails — responsible for Lévy flights in physics, finance, and biology.
