Kuramoto Order Parameter & Phase Synchrony

The Kuramoto model describes synchronization of coupled oscillators with distributed natural frequencies. The complex order parameter r·e^{iψ} measures collective coherence: r=0 is incoherence, r=1 is perfect synchrony. Above a critical coupling K_c, spontaneous synchronization emerges as a phase transition.
