Exactly solvable spin liquid with Majorana fermions and Z₂ flux sectors
Phase: — | Gap: —
The Kitaev honeycomb model H = −Jx Σ σˣσˣ − Jy Σ σʸσʸ − Jz Σ σᶻσᶻ is exactly solvable via Majorana fermion decomposition. Three gapped A-phases (abelian anyons) exist when one coupling dominates (e.g. Jx > Jy+Jz). The B-phase (center) is gapless with a Fermi point, becoming a non-abelian topological phase with Majorana zero modes when time-reversal is broken. Red hexagons indicate π-flux vortices.
