The Keldysh contour doubles the time axis into forward and backward branches, enabling real-time perturbation theory out of equilibrium. Three independent Green's functions emerge: retarded G^R (causal response), advanced G^A, and the Keldysh G^K (distribution/population). For a single level coupled to two leads at voltage bias V, the spectral function and current can be computed exactly (Landauer formula).
