Hysteresis & Preisach Model

Ferromagnetic memory via a distribution of bistable relays

The Preisach model represents a ferromagnet as a superposition of elementary bistable relays (hysterons), each switching at different up/down thresholds α and β. The net magnetization is the weighted integral over the Preisach plane, producing the characteristic sigmoid hysteresis loop. Disorder in the threshold distribution controls coercivity and remanence.
