Hysteresis Loop — Preisach Ferromagnet Model

The Preisach model treats a ferromagnet as an ensemble of elementary bistable "hysterons" with distributed switching fields. Watch the M-H loop form from individual switching events.

Preisach Model (1935)
Each hysteron i flips up when H > αᵢ and down when H < βᵢ (βᵢ ≤ αᵢ). The distribution P(α,β) on the Preisach plane determines the loop shape.

M(H) = ∫∫ P(α,β)·γ(H) dα dβ

Coercivity = half-width at M=0. Remanence = M at H=0. Loop area = energy dissipated per cycle.
