Frustrated Magnets — Kagome Spin Liquid

On the kagome lattice, antiferromagnetic interactions are geometrically frustrated — not all bonds can be simultaneously satisfied. The ground state has extensive degeneracy (S ~ N), leading to a quantum spin liquid: a highly entangled state with no magnetic order, fractionalized spinon excitations, and long-range entanglement. The kagome Heisenberg antiferromagnet is a leading candidate for Z₂ spin liquid behavior.
