A periodically driven quantum system (Floquet system) develops micromotion — rapid oscillations within each drive period. At special frequencies, spins spontaneously lock to subharmonic response, breaking discrete time-translation symmetry: a time crystal. The phase diagram shows stable, prethermal, and chaotic regimes.
