Quasi-energy bands of a periodically driven tight-binding chain
A tight-binding lattice (ε_k = −2J cos k) driven by a time-periodic field E(t) = A cos(Ωt) maps to Floquet bands via the Bessel-function dressing: J_eff = J · J₀(A/Ω). When A/Ω = 2.405 (first zero of J₀), the effective hopping vanishes — "coherent destruction of tunneling." Quasi-energy zones are folded into [−Ω/2, Ω/2], creating band crossings and gaps.
