The fiber bundle model (Daniels 1945) consists of N parallel fibers with Weibull-distributed failure thresholds. Under equal load sharing, when one fiber breaks the load redistributes equally among survivors — a mean-field failure cascade. The critical load shows a spinodal-like instability; avalanche statistics follow power laws near criticality.
