About

Crystal nucleation occurs when random thermal fluctuations create a stable seed. The crystal then grows by solidifying neighboring liquid cells. Anisotropy breaks symmetry, creating dendritic (snowflake-like) arms. Multiple nuclei eventually meet, forming grain boundaries. Based on a discrete solidification model with orientation-dependent growth rates.
