Edge dislocation: extra half-plane of atoms. Burgers vector b (lattice constant). Stress σ_xy = Gb/2π(1-ν) · x(x²-y²)/(x²+y²)². Peierls stress: τ_P = 2G exp(-2πd/b(1-ν)). Dislocations pile up against obstacles — Taylor hardening.
