Diffusion-Limited Aggregation

Particles random-walk until they stick to the growing cluster — creating fractal crystals. Color = arrival order.

DLA (Witten & Sander, 1981): Particles launched from far away random-walk inward. When they touch the cluster, they stick. The resulting fractal has dimension D_f ≈ 1.71 in 2D. The branching pattern emerges because tips are more exposed to incoming walkers — a geometric amplification of randomness that creates snowflake-like structures.
