Wolfram's elementary CAs: complexity and randomness from the simplest possible rules.
Rule
30
Presets
Rule 30 is Class III (chaotic): the central column passes all statistical randomness tests — Wolfram used it as Mathematica's default RNG. Rule 90 produces the Sierpiński triangle (Class II). Rule 110 is Turing-complete (Matthew Cook, 1994). Each rule defines 8 outputs for the 8 possible 3-cell neighborhoods (left, center, right). Click rule bits to toggle and build custom rules.
