Rule 30 — Pseudorandom Chaos from Simple Rules

Rule 30 (Wolfram 1983) produces apparently random output from a single black cell. The center column passes all standard randomness tests — Wolfram used it as the default random number generator in Mathematica. Shannon entropy measures how random each column is.
