Cell Cycle Network — Tyson's Model

Simplified Tyson model of the mitotic oscillator: Cdk1 (MPF) drives mitosis. Mutual inhibition between Cdk1 and APC/Cdh1 creates bistability and irreversible G1→S→G2→M transitions.

Controls

Cdk1:
APC:
Phase:
dC/dt = m·k1 − k2·C − k3·A·C
dA/dt = k4·C·(1−A) − k5·A

C = Cdk1/MPF activity
A = APC/Cdh1 activity

Low C → G1 (growth)
Rising C → S phase
High C → G2/M (mitosis)
APC peak → cell division
