Cavity Optomechanics: Radiation Pressure
Light-driven oscillator: cooling, amplification, and bistability via radiation force
x = 0.00 | n_photons = — | regime: —
In cavity optomechanics, radiation pressure of a confined optical field drives a mechanical oscillator: ẍ + Γ_m·ẋ + ω_m²x = (ħω_c/L)|α|², while the cavity field α obeys α̇ = −(κ/2+iΔ_eff)α + √κ·s_in. Red-detuned drive (Δ<0) provides optomechanical cooling (backaction cooling); blue-detuned drive (Δ>0) amplifies mechanical motion. Strong coupling produces bistability.
