About

The Cahn-Hilliard equation ∂c/∂t = M∇²(f'(c) − κ∇²c) governs phase separation of a binary mixture. Starting from a near-uniform composition with small fluctuations, the system spontaneously demixes into A-rich and B-rich domains (spinodal decomposition). Domains grow over time as ⟨L⟩ ~ t^(1/3) (Lifshitz-Slyozov coarsening). Blue = component A, orange = component B.
