Vortex Core Spectral Structure in Type-II Superconductors
The Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) equations describe quasiparticle excitations in inhomogeneous superconductors. Near a vortex core (flux quantum hc/2e), the gap parameter Δ(r) = Δ₀·tanh(r/ξ)·e^{iθ} vanishes at center, creating Caroli-de Gennes-Matricon (CdGM) bound states with energies ε_μ ≈ μΔ²/E_F.
