Amorphous solids (glasses, foams, granular packs) deform via discrete stress drops — "avalanches". In the athermal quasistatic limit, the system is slowly loaded until a soft spot yields, redistributing stress elastically. This Eshelby-inclusion model produces scale-free avalanche statistics.
