Annealed Disorder & Random Energy Landscape

Particle dynamics in a thermally fluctuating rugged potential

In annealed disorder, the random energy landscape itself fluctuates in time (unlike quenched disorder which is frozen). The Random Energy Model (Derrida 1980) assigns independent Gaussian energies to each configuration. At low T, the system freezes into a glass phase with T_g = σ/√(2 ln 2). Particles perform Langevin dynamics: ẋ = -∇V(x,t) + η(t), where V evolves stochastically.
